The 1987 edition of The Journal, edited by Kim Buck, Rachel Nicholson, Mat Edwards and Martin Wilson, was a short-lived break in the journal's hiatus, and the first edition of the publication under the new club name, Leeds University Union Mountaineering Club/LUUMC. It's front cover, the iconic ‘on the brink above the drink’ photograph, features Rachel Nicholson climbing above the Roger Stevens pond, her spotter sat oblivious below - poking fun at the typical climbing magazine covers of the day.
A physical copy is currently held by members of the club, with aims to donate it to the Leeds University Library in the future.
